After meeting Jones on the roof she's gives you a grappling hook so you can advance but it's not appearing on my inventory

How am I supposed to use it?

There's a special key for non-weapon items. (can't remember now, which one, try out several ones on your keyboard)


If the item is still absolutely unavailable, have a try with the latest XIII patch:

Found it, turned out to be the G key

I had the same problem, "G" key didn't work, patch didn't help. I went into settings and clicked on reset, and there it was, bound to "G" key. For some reason it didn't effect my custom control settings, which was a good thing. Enjoying the game, by the way. GOG is number one with me.
