And since i already made a topic... the music is awesome, no earbleeding, lots of headroom, nice dynamic. My ears wept in joy. Big thanks to the guy who made it, 'faith in music production restored', and all.

Does it remind you of the Thing soundtrack? It reminds me of the Thing- understated, sinister and creepy.

Sure does! The Thing and the original XCOM, though I guess the original game hinted at scifi soundtracks, be it The Thing or The Day Earth Stood Still.
Most of all though, it reminds me of the times when music wasn't LOUD AS HELL of course. ;)
