hi all.
my tutorials seem to stall after the Trader/Crafting bit, so i'm trying to learn Docking by myself and have managed to leave the dock, return and submit a request, then fly down to my pad and align so all markers show green and... now what? my ship just sinks into the pad geometry and gets stuck if i try to go lower than the first bump when i touch the pad.

in the steam forum, someone said you have to press S to complete the dock, but i have remapped all my controls - S is now Decelerate. what function did S used to do in the default config? (my 'thrust down' key is E, is it that? i'm already doing that)

others have said that simply aligning your ship is enough, and once you're aligned, docking happens automatically - does the menu pop up if i'm successful?

game looks great, but it does leave you guessing at times...

thanks for reading.

------> ok, i got it. it's automatic, but a little glitchy and takes a couple of tries before it catches.

Sometimes I need to raise my ship because somehow I'm too low. It says that everything is aligned properly, but its not. Its like the location tracker missed the floor I'm scraping my ship on.
Once you are properly lined up on green you should automatically dock. If you`re not docking that means you`re not low enough. Lower your ship GENTLY, usually S key, or whatever key you have to hover down vertically, and the ship will `catch` and auto-Dock, lowering the landing gears and all that by itself.

Again do it GENTLY. Too fast and you`ll miss the sensors and dive into the platform. Tap the key.

Once you get a better ship or improved autodock she`ll dock herself a lot quicker and easier (although you`ll still need to direct her to the pad).

Yeah I know right, some times the clippings just wants to bounce you and with docking software it seems to want to take over and glide you into walls.
Plus the alignment seems to favour being slightly more forward not getting the lines to match up perfect.
