Years have passed, some aspects of my life have changed in dire and unexpected ways, X4 came out along with some DLCs, yet I, my friends, still find myself playing X3:AP.
I've played it on a (then) ATI card, I've played it on Nvidia. I've played it on a laptop and on a desktop. I've played it on Windows for years, and I'm now playing it on Linux (albeit using Wine). At this point I think I've realized I'll probably keep at it, in one form or another, for the rest of my life.
I've since abandoned the game previously described in this thread, but I've started another (also sandbox) and am nearly back where I was years ago, missing a few captured ships perhaps, but, with the lessons I've learned in my previous game, a far better developed and better spread economy for my "space empire".
Watch this space for WinterSnowfall's X3:AP corner of the galaxy 2.0.
