I just did the race qualifier in Tides of Avarice and was told I suck and "we should probably hire a better pilot" (which cracked me up), at which point I got the option to do just that: hire a pilot to run the race for me.

It struck me that that was exactly what I had wanted in X4 all along -- just not for the racing :) If, at some point, the game had said "you're not that good at commerce, management and base building -- why don't we get someone to do that for you" and left me to just putter around in cool-looking space-ships, X4 would have been my favorite space sim of all time (I still love it, though, dreary management and all).

If you had the option, is there anything you would opt out of doing in X4?
