Trying to start for the first time. bought it a while ago and kept it up to date. I have done a verify and had it download everything it found it needed, but it fails to start. if I try to start directly from the executable rather than from Galaxy I get a pop up telling me vulkan-1.dll is missing from my computer. is this a game file or some other file I am supposed to have on my computer but don't? if you search the developer's forum the only issue this has been asked that I found was someone that had a weak graphics card (someone else had the problem but they told him to just start a new thread and I didn't find that). I have twin GTX 980, so it would be weird if they are underpowered.

has the answer, kind of. you need to install graphics drivers again. the installer from the manufacture (NVIDIA in my case) contains the Vulcan API, but the tools to keep your graphics up to date within Steam, Windows, etc. don't install Vulcan if it wasn't part of the original driver package, even if it became standard later (assuming they even bother with keeping Vulcan up to date at all). thus Vulcan is an alternative to Direct X, and it would seem with less support with other products that help keep things up to date (and thus can be a slightly bigger hassle). hopefully this will get put into the general support for the game here on GoG or on their own forums (instead of on their wiki).
