You can download the extra PDF from the official Egosoft website.

I'm not able to post links for some reason so just go to egosoft.com and take a look around.

You need to:
- note your game's serial key which is shown in your web GOG library (not shown in Galaxy)
- create an Egosoft forum account
- add the game's serial number on the registration form
- validate your newly created account and download the encyclopedia

There are also other bonus packs on the downloads page most notable a Survival Guide for Albion Prelude which might come in handy for people new to the series.

Enjoy!
I followed your instructions and the egosoft web site stated that I would receive an e-mail validation message. I never received one, so on egosoft's web site I found the resend validation form, typed in my username and e-mail address and still have not received any validation message. Any ideas? Is there a general egosoft support e-mail address?

Sounds more like the messages got caught in some spam filter.

Thank you for the reply. I tried again and again no message. I checked my spam folder, nothing. Do you know of anywhere else to get the extra PDF?

Sorry no clues :-(
Resurrecting this thread.

As the X Encyclopedia is a Superbox exclusive, is it actually possible to download it if I own the X games on GOG?
If so, which (GOG) game's serial key do I need to register on Egosoft so I can download it?

I haven't yet bought any of X games on GOG - as I was going to go the Superbox route on Steam - so can't check myself. I guess I just want to know whether or not I can get all the Superbox content if I buy the games on GOG (even if I have to download it from the EgoSoft website.
Yes, you can download it without owning the Superbox. I'm uncertain whether any one game will give you access to it, as I have X2, X3R, and X3TC all registered. They're all retail copies, but GOG and Steam versions should work just fine.

Here's a link to the Superbox downloads page: https://www.egosoft.com/download/superbox/bonus_en.php

The encyclopedia download at that URL says "Available to users with a registered Superbox".

How can I download the encyclopedia if I only have the games on GOG?
When I click on the Download button it takes me to the next page, but only shows links if I am logged in. Did you click that?

I haven't actually registered on Egosoft because I don't yet own any of the games. I'll take your word for it though EBM, thank you for your help.

I'm basically debating whether to buy the Superbox on Steam or the individual games on GOG. I wanted to know if I could get the pdf Encyclopedia and all the Superbox Bonus DVD content if I went the GOG route even if it meant me downloading it from Egosoft (at least then I would be getting the latest versions of all the bonus dvd content).
All I can say is that I'm able to download the PDF without having the Superbox. Hopefully someone who has the GOG version can chime in with their own experiences.
