Does anyone know of a good tutorial series possibly youtube. I have looked at a few and still a bit confused, these games look very hard and complex. At this stage I am only going to try either of the last two installments.

Any suggestions on which game to start with (easiest) and the best tutorials for it.

Only the last two (out of those on GOG)? Terran Conflict then, based only on watching hours of videos and reading about the games for days...

...so, anyone who has played them should speak up.

Yes the games are complex but you do not have to know all from the get go.

I think I must have spent well over a hundred hours reading and watching about the game to learn how to do things and get ideas on what goals to pursue.

Oh, about video tutorials, I do not know any, sorry.

Not sure about the older ones, but for example you can have a look at this one for X3 reunion and
