I know that they can be played for each on its own, but if you have them all can they played as one very big game? If not which has the best bridge mods for big ships.

No. The games stand alone for themselves. There are story connections and a shared background/universe, but thats it :)

Reunion is a game on its own... TC and AP can be played as a single title, there's a mod that integrates TC storylines into AP
X3 is the best, Terran Conflict, Albion Prelude and Reunion.

X2 is dated but has a lot of mods.

For a new comer I would play all the X3's.

They all have different capital ships, small fighters, cargo haulers, etc.
Thanks for the help! :)

I guess I'll start TC/AP then (when I'm done with my current backlog schedule ;) ) & look for youtube clips about Reunion story. I played 1+xpack & 2 already at their releases but the 3 always managed to "annoy" me just enough to not get it till gog offered the series deal here yesterday; which was a no-brainer to grab.
X3 Reunion was the successor to the then dated X2 and X series.

X3 Reunion sucked according to popular demand because it lacked a full manual, which simply translated as lacking auto in game features like something as simple as docking.

X3 Terran conflict was basically a better X3 Reunion as it fixed allot of the issues inherent in X3R. Also expanded the universe by a mile stone.

X3 AP was supposed to be an expansion to X3TC, instead they combined the two into one standalone product. AP is suppose to fill the gap between the X3 universe and the horrible bald captains dream X Rebirth.
Reunion was meh until I installed the bonus pack after which it was yeah :-) I do not know whether the GOG version comes with it but it is not mentioned at least. Heartily recommended but be warned it also makes a complicated game even more so. http://www.egosoft.com/download/x3/bonus_en.php

A good factory complex calculator helps a ton when (if) you want to build.
