OK, so, this is going to come across as a little bit pearl-clutching, but bear with me...

I just noticed that a lot of the Internet games have "adult" server names. For example, the top one as I write this is named "F**kfest".

I have no problem with this myself! I personally swear like a trooper, especially when losing at computer games :)

However, I have two young (9 and 7) nephews and this game would be perfect fun for them, except that their mom doesn't want them exposed to this kind of language (yet)...

Anyway. Is there a "filter profanity" option in the game for Internet servers?

Sadly, I don't think so. I personally swear like a sailor (USCG, Semper Paratus, and screw everyone afraid to get their boots wet). But you raise a really valid point. My teenage niece is going to visit this summer. While I'm sure she's used to bad language, A language/name filter is a damn good idea.

I was looking around at mods for Wreckfest, and I'm pretty sure I saw one which replaces the in-game names with real racing driver names. Might be worth looking for that.

While a little extreme, another option may be to simply stop the game going online while the little ones are around. Thus, the game can't display the servers to begin with, and they can still play against the AI and enjoy the game. (Since it doesn't require internet to work).

Fair point. Now, if only local LAN play worked for the GOG version of the game right now... (see other forum thread!)

Thanks for replying.

This is a feature I miss in games in general. LAN multiplayer. Honestly, I wish more games would support this.

It's also useful after the "official" servers are shutdown, as you can still play online with your friends.

Honestly, in my opinion: Give every game LAN multiplayer ability.

Sadly probably will never happen :-(
I posted a patch to fix Wreckfest's offline LAN support for no-Galaxy/offline zip installations, see gog.com/forum/wreckfest/does_it_have_offlinelan_mode/post16

This patch will disable the game from attempting to connect online, i.e. only LAN servers will be visible. So that could be used to ensure that kids won't see profanity in the online server names. (of course that won't work if the wish was to allow kids to play online)
