It's available on Steam and even your good old CDs, but I'm told the GOG version may be updated some time next week (which makes sense with how GOG analyzes updates for a few days).

are you developer ? how do you know GOG got the patch ? Many Team17 games like Worms WMD didn't get patch on here. So I refund it with that reason. Steam version was very different.

I heard it from sources close to the devs, later saw it confirmed on a public WA Discord.

I got the update on my Steam copy, now it doesn't work, it's an access violation, apparently

Are you running it as admin? Did you verify the files from the Steam client?

It would be great to have 3.8 on GOG!

Updating to 3.8 is possible by installing the CD patch and then patching the byte at hex offset 296712 in WA.exe to 02.

Thank you for providing an alternative solution for installing the patch on the GOG version.

Still, its VERY VERY annoying for a paying customer to wait for or to never get update for a game. Its even more infuriating when the game in question is one of the classics from the old days.

3.8 is now on GOG Galaxy, so it's only a matter of days until offline installers are updated.

I don't see any patch file, so is it just the main installer file updated?

That's the only download link I see, and it seems to imply an older version, and it is only a little bigger than the last older version I downloaded, which was named the following.
