Well, seems like this could have used some more testing. The game starts up fine and plays right, too, up to the point when I actually finish a match. Then the game simply doesn't let me continue playing and hangs itself. The only way I'm able to get back to the desktop is via the ole crtl-alt-delete to call up Task Manager to kill off Worms 2's process.

This is on my lappie with Win 7 64-bit, 2.3 Ghz i3, 4GB RAM, Intel HD 3000.

Here are some screenies. The first one is the odd white background I get in the main menu, which works though. Second is the one that shows up after a quick match with an empty window with which I can't do anything at all; note the lack of any kind of buttons. Third is what I see after beating a single player mission. I can click OK or try to close the dialog window, but then nothing happens again. The button on the upper right corner doesn't do anything. I couldn't even 'prnt screen' the last two so I had to use my digital camera to take those shots.

Hi,

Sorry to hear the game is giving you some odd problems. Could you write to our Support department with a DxDiag attached and those screenshots as well? The more information we get the faster we can come up with a solution for this problem. Thanks in advance! :D

Good news! I won't need support's help, after all. Chalk it up to me being sort of in a hurry yesterday morning, so I didn't think of everything right away. I did manage to solve the problem just now though.

During the day-and-a-half I was out of town it popped into my mind to try compatibility mode when I got back home, just for the hell of it. I usually don't think too much about that feature of Windows 7 because either A) it doesn't do anything for me in most cases or B) it tends to make things more wonky than they might have been before. This is one of those rare times it worked though.

I set the shortcut to XP (SP3) compatibility, and now I can actually continue playing after a match without a problem. I'm still getting the funky white start menu screen, but that's alright. At least the game runs fine now.
