Just a simple question:
Is World in Conflict Multiplayer dead in 2018?
Hi.

Sadly: probably yes. Massgate central server is dead from 2016 or so. Game is quite old (2007?) so it's understandable. They probably had almost no active users anymore at that time. It's possible to run your own "central server" as Ubisoft had open sourced it. It's available on their github account: ubisoftinc, project massgate (sorry, cannot paste a direct link).
Maybe someone keeps such server up and running for people to use but it's no longer one global solution for everyone. You'd have to search.

There is also option to play using LAN over VPN etc. There are fairly easy to use tools for that.

We invite you to join the project WICgate.com

Servers without lags. Everything works, ranking, clan wars and all the functions that worked Massgate servers. This is not a pirated server, the source code was taken in the public domain, from the company Ubisoft.

Your server seems to be working (although nobody is there right now).

I just wanted to point out that it would be nice to include the guide to set-up everything manually.
Since I use linux and wine to play, the installer did nothing to my hosts file (nor it could without root access). It took me about half an hour to eventually setup all those hostnames. (It would take 3 mins with a simple guide.)

If anyone else is interested, I can write a simple guide and put it here on forums. It would, however, be preferable, if the server owner put one on their website.

How do you actually run it on linux? I've not had good luck with this. It installed just fine, and the .exe 'starts' but it doesn't open or play the opening it just makes a freezeframe of the existing window and stays there.
Any fix for multiplayer using the GOG WIC Complete edition?
Multiplayer is community run now. You can easily run the multiplayer using massgate.org. Also there is a discord for the community

I know this is an old thread but I would like to play this game again after a long time. Running EneavourOS with a Ryzen 3900x and a GTX 1080... I've heard that there are already startup problems under Windows with CPUs with 4+ cores... Under protondb.com there is no entry anymore. The Lutris installation script does not work either. There is no entry in the Heroic discord as well. Before I give up hope I thought to revive this thread. Has anyone gotten the game to work in 2022 in an "easy way"? Would be grateful for any hints. Many thanks in advance.

Just create a bootable windows xp, 7, 8.1, 10 or 11 USB with persistent storage and install the game on your normal sdd but store the games metadata and registry as part of the persistent installation of windows on the USB. then ppop in the USB and run windows whenever you want to game. It's pretty simple and MUCH better than using an emulator. Emulators are trash, especially for gaming.

Also, the game works fine on modern hardware. Just enable Direct x 10 in advanced graphic options.

I have a Ryzen 5 5600x. 1080ti.
Some of us guys are trying to play together, Im not seeing the WICgate.com server working, "Server not found".

Anyone hosting this any more?

I would be happy to host this, and have the hardware to do it easily, if someone wouldn't mind walking me through it a little?
