With the Massgate servers shutting down, is that it for WIC multiplayer?. The GOG version is effectively single player only then?.
Multiplayer via LAN will always be available, so if you use some program like Hamachi, online matches are still possible. But yes, the regular online servers are being taken down.

Exactly, those are the online servers. However you can still play via LAN, and if you use a service to "simulate LAN via the internet" (e.g. Hamachi), then you can play online with your friends.
Gameranger) says it supports World in Conflict and Soviet Assault. My guess is it's similar to Hamachi with how it works but I haven't tried this particular game on Gameranger to know for sure.
Never heard of Gameranger until now. Is it good?

I've had an account for years. It started out as a Mac only service until around 2007. It's pretty simple to use and isn't overly large, you can give it a try. The first Gameranger in my post above is a link to their site.

It's really popular for the old "Age of . . ." games or at least used to be.
Definetly looks promising, I will give it a try. Thanks for mentioning it!
Good news guys!!!

Hello everyone,

We have decided to postpone the shutdown of Massgate and the servers as we are still investigating some potential community based solutions. No promises, but we are looking into it. We want to make sure all options are exhausted before we shut it down.

Stay tuned for coming updates!

You have surely checked it out by now but I feel like saying it anyway: it's infinitely better than Hamachi (assuming that Hamachi hasn't changed much since I last tried it). Instead of emulating a LAN online (and potentially screwing up your network settings) it simply serves as an external lobby and you can see and join matches before the game is even on. It's perfectly unintrusive and convenient to use. Can't recommend it enough.
Any options for multiplayer?
Multiplayer is now community run. It can be easily set up through Massgate.org There is also a discord for multiplayer matches
