Anyone else having this problem? After initial play through (up to Piranha-Man in one sitting), I'm getting corrupted visuals, filled with error messages (namely "LOC_ERR_KEY"). Title screen, save file screen, and the game itself all have a black screen, filled with that error message.

Problem persists regardless if I try 32/64bit installs nor repairing each install.

Hello, and sorry to hear that.
It seems like either the files are missing, either the game is failing to load them.

1. If I look into the install folder, apart from the GOG files, I have 3 folders (bin_pc, exe32, exe64) with a total of 972 MB and 1979 files in it. May vary slightly depending on versions and configuration. Do you have a similar amount of files?

2. Does your installation path for the game contains any non-ASCII character? Yesterday there was a bug with some paths with accents (which is now fixed in 1.02.10) however the bug wasn't as bad as your.

3. Could you check for the WB.LOG file next to the last executable you ran, and post a copy of this file here as attachment?

Thanks and sorry again,
-Omar
Cheers for the response! :)

To anwser your questions:

1. The folders, number of files, and total size match (as per image attached).

2. Install folder name is default as per gog, which has installed to root of two different drives - At first in a Seagate Firecuda SSHD 2TB drive, followed by a Western Digital Scorpio Blue WD10JPVT 1TB (presuming the problem may have involved the SSHD's caching).

3. WB.LOG can be found on my google drive here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B-iEqJz_FbHkUDV5d3E3SFJtU0U?usp=sharing

For good measure I've also included my dxdiag file.

Thanks for the information and files! Your hardware also looks totally fine.
I can't understand what wrong at the moment, except that the log says that the Strings file isn't loading (message about main.csv), and Textures are also not loading (repeated messages about Blocks.png). Your folder name ("D:\Wonder Boy The Dragons Trap") also appears to be void of non-ascii characters so that's not the problem. I will test an install in the root folder of a drive like you did, just in case.

Please bear with me as I scratch my head, and I may push a next build with a little more debugging information in the log and may ping you by PM for further testing. Sorry again :/

I'm still unable to repro nor understand why that would happen (and you are the only reporter of this problem so far).

Do you have special software installed that may interfere with accessing your files? If you have an anti virus could you try disabling it temporarily to try, just in case?

Could you download the latest version (if you still own the game) 1.02.16 on GOG, and run the game from the command-line prompt with the -megaverbose parameter and post your wb.log file again? While in the exe64/ folder, you can click the address bar, enter "cmd" then enter to open a command-prompt. Then type "wb.exe -megaverbose" to run the game with the parameter. The wb.log file will be a little more complete (and spammy!)

Thanks for your help and patience.
