This game is almost exactly what I wanted from Hexen, all those years ago.
Wizordum is the PERFECT mix of old-school and modern QoL.
I only have two issues with this game, the biggest being that the maps are too big for my liking. That's also another way of saying 'You get a lot of value for money here'.
And I can use the editor to make my OWN maps that AREN'T too big for my liking. Those tools are given to us by the devs. Thanks devs!
I've already gotten my money's worth and I haven't even started ep 2 or used the sorceress yet.
I'm very surprised - and more than a little disappointed to be honest - that this game doesn't get A LOT more love.
My other issue I have with this game is how I can't bind my mousewheel to change the Inventory. Because of my bindings this basically means that using the inv is a hassle for me, so I don't bother with it. I just use it for the potions.
Contrast and compare:
- Scroll mouse wheel to item, press mouse thumb button to use item
Done, took two seconds max.
'How will you choose your weapons then'?
Exact same way I do now - with the number keys. I have NEVER used mouse wheel for weapons and I'm not going to start now.
The current method:
- Use a key bind.
If it's not Q and E (which I have bound for the Bombs and Divine Power) or Z and C (which I use for the spells), then it's not going to be comfortable. Putting any of those anywhere else means they won't get used, because they'll be too much hassle in the thick of battle.
And that's the point: In the thick of battle.
This is a game which just teleports enemies directly in front of you.
This means that split-second timing matters.
So it'd be cool if the keybinding system reflected that. I literally don't use the item system at all, beyond keeping it on the flask for health.
By the time I've SELECTED an item, I could've just killed all the enemies. Which is what I do now. Every single time. Instead of engaging with the item system.
-------------------------------------------------------
Don't get me wrong, I love this game. 9/10 for real.
Delivers on the promise it makes, that ALONE satisfies me.
Well and truly happy with this purcase, big ups to all involved!
