i was under the impression that this game would be updated at least enough to run on the latest version of windows. it seems it is not. how can i make this game run on my windows 10 computer? any help would be appreciated.

More details; it’s folder is in documents, not program files x86.

Every time I go to play it I get the error message “windows couldn’t complete the requested changes. The changes couldn’t be completed. Please reboot your computer and try again. Error code: 0x800F0831 “

This is with windows 10.

It is probably your setup, W&W runs okay on my version of Windows 10...

You are correct. After lots of internet ‘research’ I discovered that windows managed to mess up my brand new cpu somehow. I did a windows reset which then let me access my previously inaccessible turn on and off windows features menu which then let me turn on direct play which fixed my problem.

Thank you very much! I know this is old, but in case of others searching too, I had almost this exact problem of the game not launching on windows 10, and turning on direct play fixed it!

I can't get this to play at all on my system.
It goes entirely to a black screen, music playing in the background, then my monitor where the game nominally is running just starts cycling through it's ports (HDMI1, DP1, DP2) and never gets going.

I have direct play on, as I've seen that was an issue for some people.

Any thoughts?

It seems I'm running into more and more issues with my old games not running on newer systems/monitors/etc.

The answer really can't be 'disconnect your monitors and try an older one' or such.

Just getting frustrated with trying to play some old games, especially ones I just bought :P

A lot of older games have issues if you have more than 1 monitor attached. I can't say that is the issue but it can be something as simple as that. Another is where if you have a game controller attached it can really mess with some older games.
