Is Wizardry updated to the latest version released? The reason I ask is because the update hampers certain aspects of the game like pickpocketing and so on so I was just curious before I make a purchase.

It has the official patch and yes that did fix the pickpocket exploits. Pickpocketing is still a somewhat useful skill to have but I recommend that you save your game first.
