Helm of serenity is not working, party goes crazy when acquiring destinae dominus, even if placing it to inventory of character wearing the helm, nothing happens and insanity never wears off. It seem this release cannot be finished (or can but it would be crazy to play with all-insane party). i was able to finish game not released at GOG (many many years ago and the helm worked).

Anyone any ideas how to fix it? (3rd party patch, mod, anything?)

I found this - "Once you retrieve the Destinae Dominus from Marten, your characters may all become insane (even though the Helm of Serenity was supposed to protect you from this fate). If that happens to you, just make sure the stone is in the inventory of the character wearing the helm and go to sleep--the insanity should be gone by morning."
As Triock suggested, put it in the inventory of the party member who is wearing the helm, then camp (a second or so is usually enough) to remove the insane status. It's just a quirk with the way the game handles item pickup and AFAIK this happens to pretty much everyone.
As I already told, I know the game from the past and I know how it should work - but it does not work in my GOG release! That is why I created this topic ;) Insanity never wears off and I tried everything - giving the helm and DD to different characters, sleeping 100 times, let the game run for a hour, curing madnes with spell...
You have to put it in his inventory and not the group inventory.

1. There are 3 artefacts… Perhaps you have the wrong one in his inventory?
2. Have you added any mods to your game?

To be clear, the helm works fine in my gog wizardry 8!

Thanks for information that it works to somebody. I reinstalled the game and problem solved. I used mod that increases speed of monster, maybe it was because of it.
At first I thought the *** was censoring a word for the topic title

"Helmet of Ass?
Helmet of Cum?
What is he talking about?
And why would they put that in a Wizardry game?"
