Hi. I am trying to run Wizardry 8 (GOG Mac Version) on my older Mac Pro (circa 2010).

I push the green "Play" button & the screen goes white for a few seconds, that dissapears and I get this message: "Could not open video output device." I am running MacOS High Sierra, version 10.13.

My mac specs are " 2x2.4 GHz Quad-Core with 10 GB (1066 Mhz DDR3) memory. Graphics are an ATI Radeion HD 5770 1 GB."

Its an older machine but was quite spunky in its day. It should not have any trouble running Wizardry 8. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's possibly a problem with High Sierra, not with your machine.

You could try this fix, which was posted by another user for a different game:

To run System Shock 2 you have to disable Wineskin's D3D GPU detection, which doesn't work with High Sierra yet...

- hold down the alt-key while double-clicking on System Shock 2 in the Finder
(this will open SS2's Wineskin settings)
- choose Set Screen Options
- uncheck Auto Detect GPU Info for Direct3D
- press Done and then Quit

Now you should be able to launch System Shock 2 normally.

This did do the trick for Wizardry 8! It didn't work on my machine for Hotline Miami. Hotline just ignored my pushing the alt key and crashed like usual.

It's Wizardry that I have been wanting to play though. Thank you!
