Hi,

I can't find any method of changing Wizardry 8's resolution on my MacBook Pro. The game always runs in 800x600. Changing the 3dvideo.cfg file makes the game crash on startup. Can anybody help, please?
nobody?
Well, this is for Windows, but it might work for mac too.

Download the Wizardry 8 Extender for Widescreen Support -https://www.sendspace.com/file/kdlqzz
Extract srVP_Wiz8Extender.dll into the Dll folder where the game is installed.
Go to the installation folder and edit 3DVideo.CFG
Change the first line to DirectX7
Change the second and third lines to the width and height of your resolution.
Change the fourth line to 32
Save your changes.
thanks a lot - I'll give it a try and report back
Damn - the game runs, but is totally gliched. Everything flickers after just a short moment. Thanks anyway - I'll have to play it on a Windows partition it seems. I wonder, why they made the mac version so limited. It seems it would be no problem supporting other resolutions... at least in 4:3

Sir-Tech ran out of money before actually finishing the game. That's also why the game shows you an ad when leaving the game, they had to sell ad space to be able to finish it. Of course this meant no offical updates, some cut content (there are quite a few unused items in the game files, some of them clearly quest related) and no optimisation to any system. For a game with so many troubles at the end it's actually quite well programmed, as bigs and gliches are normally very rare.
