Well, there doesn't seem to be a general advice thread so I figured I'd post this as a thread. if you're getting very jumpy mouselook movement, in a way that isn't replicated when you use keyboard keys to turn instead, then all you need to do is go to the general options second page and disable mouse smoothing. It should then work as expected.
