There are some glitches that are seen in some speedruns (like the one that beats the game in under a half hour), and I've been thinking about how they might allow for some different routes in more casual play, particularly if one wants to get some gadgets sooner.
For example:
* Go to the Umpani Base Camp early, buy the Umpani Flag, then go out of bounds and use Kunar's secret teleporter. Thanks to a hole in the geometry, it's possible to do this without having to get rid of Kunar, and you're now in Marten's Bluff, which has some nice gadget components. (You'll need to go to the swamp to finish the Holographic Projecter, and the other part of the Port-o-potty is in Arnika, but you can still avoid having to go through Arnika-Trynton Road and the Trynton area.)
* There is, of course, the fake combat trick to reach the T'Rang teleporter without going through the Mine Tunnels.
* Speaking of which, there's a glitch involving loading a save game while you go through an area transition, and I'm wondering if it's possible to enter the T'Rang house early. Once you do this, you can open the door to the outside, warp to Lower Marten's Bluff, then open the path back to the early part of Marten's Bluff. Some exploration later, and you can now fix the teleporter to go back to where you were.
* Also, the quest to get the Umpani Flag is easier when you can teleport to Umpani territories with the T'Rang teleporter, then warp back using Kunar's teleporter.
