Just get real with this overrated game AND series.

Im just getting rolling with a new party IN THE FIRST DUNGEON and i meet a group of slimes that I CANNOT KILL because i CANNOT hit and they have like 80 hp???????

WHY? WHY are these mobs in this dungeon ALREADY who designs this sh i t???????? Who????
The location Lower Monastery has no 80HP slimes placed on the map by default,
so you must have met a random spawn if we are talking about vanilla wiz8
Looking at the specific encounter tables,
and taking the exaggerated use of caps and question marks plus generalization into account,
i guess it was the green LVL7 Slithering Slime with a HP range of 47 to 83
the other potential suspect would be the anthracite LVL8 Metallic Slime w 70 to 120 HP.

In rare cases the random spawn mechanic spawns a monster which does not fit to the avg party lvl,
especially rarely at Lower Monastery for starter parties.
If so run away, no monster at LM can run as fast as the party,
combat will end after few turns and you can just go to a good resting spot.
The 1st is on the beach right of the door behind the big rock,
aka head of the huge statue broken off by the crashing vessel,
Rest 3 times, so the random spawns despawn and new are generated, then check again.

If you are either not playing a legit party or not in plain vanilla, it could have different reasons.

they're all thinly veiled attempts at recreating the early tabletop dnd experience.

the designers & developers who made them lived and breathed dnd, so it kinda stands to reason they'd want to make something replayable and challenging. it's also a different pace / flavor / metaphor from more pick up & play stuff, even complex modern rpgs; it's not afraid to kill you early, it won't hold your hand, and you might have to do homework on rolling strong chars before you make progress. anything w ties to early tabletop days like this is just hella niche, even for gog.

welcome to wizardry!

Sorry to hear you are having trouble with the game.

One thing about the game is that you have the ability to identify features of monsters. When you are preparing your orders for your party, right-click on one of the monsters. You will see various statistics about the monsters.

Even when you have failed to identify the monster type, you can still see what "level" the monster is. While it is sometimes possible to defeat a single monster even if it is a much higher level than you, If you see a group of significantly higher-level creatures you should run away. There is no guarantee in this game that you will be able to defeat every encounter. Then rest if you need healing or spell points.

If I am camping on the first floor of the lower monastery, there are a couple of places I do like to camp that seem to be safe:
* One is the little outlook across the bay and up the ramp. You originally find some mildly useful stuff here. I am not sure if it is 100% safe but I have never been attacked here.
* Once you get deeper in the monastery you come across a couple of jail cells. One has a skeleton and the Tattered Note. You can close the door behind you and then it is safe to camp there, because monsters cannot open doors.

You need to learn the game's mechanics a little better. The way you build your heroes and making sure you have all your basics covered, the way you explore the map, the way you position for a fight(you can run away, rotate formation, change positions within the formation) and remembering to use your consumables and special items. Many years ago when the game came out i was also getting killed by slimes and crabs, you need some fighting spirit in order to enjoy Wizardry 8 but once the game clicks with you it is an amazing experience.

I suggest you build a new party from scratch and try again and again but be warned, if you don't build a good party and if you don't know how to fight and move your whole formation even if you somehow go trough the first dungeon you will have a bad time once you get outside it.
