I'm currently in Trynton, and finding some of the poison spitting plants to be a bit problematic. I find that even when my party has missile shield protection, these hostile incoming missiles are still able to penetrate the shield and get through to harm my party.

When I cast the missile shield spell, does the chosen power rating value affect the spell's effectiveness at preventing incoming missiles? (Either in terms of penetrating the shield, and/or when the missiles do get through it, how much damage they cause? Perhaps the shield helps to reduce damage, if they get through it?) In other words, if I cast the spell at various power levels, will its effectiveness at stopping missiles reaching the party, and/or reducing damage if they get through it increase as the chosen cast power level increases?

If the power level only affects duration, then I need to find additional missile protection. I thought about using (large) handheld shields for the frontline party members, but all of my party members are using two handed weapons, and their alternate weapon sets are ranged weapons that require both weapon slots - one for the weapon, the other for ammo. I suppose I could equip the frontline members with large shields, either during combat or perhaps just before an anticipated fight with missile spitting plants, but this is a bit inconvenient, especially if required to be done often.

Thanks a lot for any comments.
Bugs = Hypnotic Lure to distract them
Insanity to have them fight each other
any of the cone based attacks are worth tossing in as well... on my defence side is heal all

I believe power level *does* affect the chance of the shield blocking missiles. (All the other similar spells improve at higher levels, so I am pretty sure that Missile Shield does.)

You can stack Missile Shield with Armorplate for even more protection.

Hypnotic Lure: Unlikely to be available unless the party has a Psionic or a Gadgeteer. (For the gadget, buy the ingredients from Fuzzfas.) Also, plants are immune to hypnosis.

Insanity: Needs a Psionic or Bard, though having it on a Monk or Bishop is feasible (buy the spellbook from Anna in Arnika). Unfortunately, plants are *also* immune to insanity. (They're also immune to fear and nausea.)

Cone attacks: The problem is that certain enemies (like insects) will quickly surround you, making these spells *far* less effective. These work fine against enemies that tend to shoot missiles, however.
