Not sure if I missed anything, but I can't seem to skip the openning (from the Sir-tech logo to the credits IIRC) by hitting any buttons...and the openning lasts quite a few minutes, which makes me wonder if it ran at a slower speed than normal.

Besides, when I tried to "review character", the info of that character just flashed for a split second and disappeared before I can recognize anything.

All these weird things make me wonder if there is some fundamental settings go wrong, but I didn't see many configuration options anywhere...

Download and play the Wizardry 7 DOS version, you'll get a better emulated and less buggy game this way.

Eh, emmm... actually, I did download the DOS version already, I just wonder if there is a way to fix the problem...but anyway, thanks for your advice!
Try changing the speed of the emulated PC in DOSBOX (Ctrl+F11 and Ctrl+F12 modifies the cycles if my memory is correct).

If this doesn't work you can try fiddling with other DOSBOX settings or installing a different DOSBOX version.

I meant I want to fix the Gold version, not the DOS version. DOS version seems fine so far. Sorry for the confusion.

Anyway, if the Gold version can't be fixed anytime soon, maybe I should just play the DOS version. Does the DOS version has automap?
There's automapping in the game. You need a journey map kit (can be found early) and the quality of the map is affected by the mapping skill of the character who's using it.

Thank you for the info! I was reading the instruction for VI and haven't got time for VII yet. There seems to be a very long journey ahead...
The easiest way I found to avoid the long full credit list. When you hit launch game and that dragon animation comes up. Hit esc before that dragon animation ends. There will be a few credits, but not the full list and the load menu will pop up.
Using the GOG download Wizardry Gold 7 on Windows 7.

Dented-Metal solution solved it for me! Quickly press escape when the game starts and wait it out. Menu will show eventually.
