I have been trying to start a new game of Wizardry 7. I am using the DOS version from here at GOG, and yes it is a legitimate copy puchased here.

I created the party, equip them, and start. On the third step, half the party dies. It does not matter which square I step on. I can step forward, turn and move into the square with the introduction text, and boom, three dead. Mage, Priest, and a fighter. Turn around a few times, same thing.
I have deleted the game, reinstalled, copied the save to the new installation. Same thing. I've also attempted this both using the correct copyright answers to the questions, and none. I've even started typing obscenities into the field. Still kills half my party in the opening block of squares.

While it's been many many years since my original disks worked, or that I even had a floppy drive, I know full well I never had issues before. I haven't yet tried finding a pirate copy to see if it works. That would be rather idiotic, being forced to pirate a game I own twice just to get a working copy.
No I have not tried the Gold version. It was horribly buggy back when it was new, and much much worse than the DOS version in regards to the portraits. And the voice acting...
Since GOG proved to me that the "support" is not worth the page it's printed on with another recent problem, I'm not going to bother even attempting to manipulate the broken, incompetently coded ticket submission process again. The site won't even allow my to upload the screenshots normally, I had to use photobucket!
There's a good reason why I quit buying games from GOG, and this is it. Since they've decided it's okay to sell broken crap and ignore problems until they go away.
*Edit* I went ahead and downloaded a copy off of an abandonware site. It allows me to move around and even save the game. I can't load the game, probably a version difference, but it is completely unacceptable that I have to pirate a game I buy on GOG just to have a working copy, because they cannot be bothered to provide one.
