Does anyone know if GOG's release of Wiz6 needs the various fan patches for things like the carrying capacity bug, the spell bug, and the various fixes in the Cosmic Forge editor?

The Cosmic Forge editor works for this version, I can say that. Also, when I went to apply the thing which allows the bonus point rolls (during character creation), it let me know that the 'fix' (cheat, I guess) wasn't currently applied yet. I guess this doesn't really answer your question, but I'd also like to know, so I'm bumping :)

i think you'll have to download cosmic forge and apply them yourself.

Can anyone give more depth on this topic? I've found the various patches but using them is intimidating; some of them say they don't work with all versions of your game and can destroy your installation if it's the wrong version. Others (the carrying capacity one) seem to imply they need to be run each and every time you want to update your carrying capactiy?

It would be helpful to know what patches we need, and (ideally) be pointed to links for the correct patches, along with an explanation of what they do and how necessary they are.

Q: I have Wiz6 from GOG. When I try to apply 'Spell Books' patch or 'Spell Resistance Bug' patch it says "Failed to change/restore the algorithm."
A: The 'Spell Books' patch has never been implemented for Wiz6 and will be removed from the options. The 'Spell Resistance Bug' has been fixed by GOG using Portable Gorilla's and the other guy (don't remember his nickname) patch which is not being detected by CF. Next version of CF will detect it and report properly.
