Subject says it all. The game ran fine under Win 10 until I finally installed the latest update (1909). Now when I hit play the icon changes color for a second as if it's trying to start and nothing happens.

Tried a full re-install, and the offline version just in case.

I was just starting to have my stupid Iron Will party come together (which I backed up), it'd be a shame if I can't get the payoff after the horribly slow start of such a silly party!

Not much help, I know. But it runs fine for me.
it works on me, but somehow i lost all sound but the intro, then again, the update screwed witht he audio, so it might be something to do with that

EDIT: a simmple verify/reoair fixed the issue, give it a look at that

Having the same issues, game doesnt launch, fix program does nothing, tried admin mode, compatibility modes, installing to root folders, removing sound dll files that were not being used, dx7, glide, nothing works.
Okay, so I did a bunch of searching on this, and I may have found a solution. I had to do two things. First, I copy/moved the games folder to the root of my hard drive. Then I needed to change the folders name to "Wiz8". In my case the game will start after this, but it will freeze on a black screen. To fix that I right clicked on wiz8.exe, and checked the disable fullscreen optimizations checkbox. Game starts fine. One potential problem though. While experimenting with this I got a couple BSODs. Im not sure of the cause. I was doing an awful lot of tinkering though. Its possible that the tinkering is why I got the BSODs. I'm not going to play the game right now, so I won't be able to confirm if its stable or not.

Oh, I forgot! You have to run it with the exe in the new Wiz8 folder. Seems obvious, but I figured I would say it just in case.

I'm going to cross post this from my steam post in case it does help anybody. As a side note, I just checked and am indeed running with the 1909 update on Windows 10. Nvidia drivers are 445.75.

Just bought this on GOG due to the sale, and it works fine on my version of Windows 10 (Installed through Galaxy). Only extra steps I took was to add the Widesceen patch and DGVoodoo 2 (with the x86 microsoft files added to the main install folder). No compatibility mode changes, and I just run the "Launch Wizardry 8" shortcut.

But when I was adding the widescreen patch I noticed that the readme stated you might need to install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86) first http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5555.

Have you tried installing that yet?

Running it in with the following in the 3DVideo.cfg file.

DirectX7
1920
1080
32
Miles Fast 2D Positional Audio

To be fair, Wizardry 8 was working for me even without DGVoodoo 2. I mainly installed that for upping color saturation + gamma and to add anisotropic filtering + anti aliasing. Having said that, DGVoodoo 2 was created to allow older games using glide or outdated versions of Direct 3D to run properly on modern systems, so it may help as well.
