I've searched thru the manual and clue book included but I don't understand how magic is kept track of. How do I know how many spells I've left to cast? I understand you pick a school, then the spell and you can choose the power level with the different dice sides and it shows much much that particular spell will cost. There doesn't seem to be a general "mana pool" or MP meter. I can tell it takes stamina but every action seems to anyway. I know I can restore my stamina and spells thru rest but how much rest is needed?

Each realm of magic (fire, water, air, earth, mental, divine) has its own mana pool. These numbers can be found on the character sheet as, for instance, Fire --/--. So, if your Mage has 16/20 in Fire, he can cast a Fireball 2 (12mp) and a Energy Blast 1 (2mp) and have a remainder of 2 mp in Fire. All the while, the MP for the other realms remain unaffected.

Thank you. I think I'm spoiled on the more modern RPG's that have everything nice and laid out and labeled.
Many elements of Wiz6 and Wiz7 would have been semi-familiar to CRPG players at the time they were published, especially the idiosyncratic/unintuitive stuff like "lower defense is better" that was derived from the D&D ruleset of the day; people were just used to dealing with it as part of the genre.
