townltu: Every race gets a distinct amount of overall attribute points when you create a PC, check sums in character creation menu, humans get the most of all,
Sure, I knew that. But since different races have different totals, who's to say what the normal baseline for Trynnies and Umpani is? Unless Saxx and Madras have more attribute points than a human would at that level, I'm not sure how you'd be able to tell if they have more than they should.

townltu: btw the simple (lvl-1) x -6ap calculation also reveals cheated PCs in YT LPs,
if foreign class spells wouldnt already have clearly shown that something is wrong..
And then she even became goofy and tried to serve the master outrageous lies :D
I... have no idea what you're talking about. I'm guessing "YT LPs" means Youtube Let's Plays, but if that's the case I don't know who "she" is or who "the master" is that you're referring to.
Bard | Fighter is a much better dual because you end up with a powerful fighter who can cast magic (songs)
Gadgeteer needs to stay pure to be worth much and will out range attack any ranger

a level 11 Gad and Bard will become your healer and one can also handle any locks... the Priest/Valkyrie makes a great tank and the Mage can help a lot at the game start but will drag after that
overall your party covers the basics so you should do fine mate... enjoy the game
Humans total to 385 at lvl1, 7 lvls provide +42 pts, so Madras started with 388, Saxx 398 ...
unless a dnd undead stole them some lvls and forgot to take the related attrib pts, because dnd has no attrib increase on lvl up,
and loss by disease adjusted to the actual numbers (totals of all defined species can be divided by 5)
btw according to that Myles started with 382, but his pie and int below human requirements allowed to put 30 more points where it really counts for him.
And if we explain his low wis&int with didease, he must have started with 412 total.

Yes, you tube LP, Dont remember who "she" was, respectively the channels name, 98% sure a female based on voice, words, channel pic. Iirc the LP was abandoned.
"the master" origins from earliest DnD times (insiders may know that this address wasnt aaaalways positive;)
in the early days of www the admin of a hardware insider board granted that individual title for posting smth yet unknown.
(no, I dont think any search or wayback machine will reveal anything;)
Nowadays that crazy guy dares to grant himself the title on boards which cover topics of which he imagines to be an expert.
(I think its called manic self esteem)

p.s.
At lvl 11 Hades Harp, Renaissance Lute, Microwave Ray, Water Cannon and Jackhammer cannot be used,
not to mention the not op ones

townltu: humans get the most of all, reason may be the high requirement of 45 for every attrib and no spcl stuff like resistance bonus etc.
I think what happened is that, over the years, RPG developers learned that specialization was a more powerful option than being a generalist, and as a result, having a high score in one or two stats was more powerful than having average stats all-around; hence why humans were given a higher stat sum to compensate.

I note that this was definitely *not* the case in early Wizardry; Humans have the lowest stat sum there, and actually have very low Piety (base of 5 as opposed to about 8 for other stats, or 10 for the Piety of 3 of the 5 races), making them easily the worst race in the game.

(We also see something like this with the Bishop; Wizardry 1-5's bishop (excluding W4) was trash at reasonable levels, but Wizardry 8's bishop is *really* good; I've always been wondering what they would have done to that class in Wizardry 9.)

Also, don't forget that Dulcimer of Mending, Regeneration Stone, and (if you're a dirty cheater and decide to hack it in) the Lyre of Cakes, while usable, are not going to be particularly effective or reliable. (To make those items 100% reliable, I believe you need to be level 17 and have a high enough Music/Engineering skill; I am pretty sure the requirement is less than 100, but I haven't actually tested this.)

By the way, the Lyre of Cakes does the same thing as the Dulcimer of Mending (of which there are 2), but the Lyre is a lot heavier, so there's no reason to hack it in except for the novelty.

marees: - How important is it to have access to healing magic at the start of the game? Would it be feasible to forget about having a priest and just go straight valkyrie? (If I went with the multiclass, I would switch after the priest gains 3rd-tier spells at level 5.) Or should I forget about having a PC valkyrie and just recruit Vi instead?
The alchemy spell school also has a healing spell. Personally i like having at least one divine spellcaster in my party(lord/priest/bishop/valkyrie).

marees: - For the bard/ninja multiclass, should I start as a bard and switch to ninja, or start as a ninja and switch to bard? Or alternate between the two? And what's the best distribution of levels between the two?
If you wan't to combine something with a bard i'd suggest a priest.Level up as a priest until you get to the stamina restoration spells and then switch into a bard that can replenish his own stamina.

I'd suggest that you play some and experiment. I don't know if what was good for me will be good for you.
