townltu: humans get the most of all, reason may be the high requirement of 45 for every attrib and no spcl stuff like resistance bonus etc.
I think what happened is that, over the years, RPG developers learned that specialization was a more powerful option than being a generalist, and as a result, having a high score in one or two stats was more powerful than having average stats all-around; hence why humans were given a higher stat sum to compensate.
I note that this was definitely *not* the case in early Wizardry; Humans have the lowest stat sum there, and actually have very low Piety (base of 5 as opposed to about 8 for other stats, or 10 for the Piety of 3 of the 5 races), making them easily the worst race in the game.
(We also see something like this with the Bishop; Wizardry 1-5's bishop (excluding W4) was trash at reasonable levels, but Wizardry 8's bishop is *really* good; I've always been wondering what they would have done to that class in Wizardry 9.)
townltu: p.s.
At lvl 11 Hades Harp, Renaissance Lute, Microwave Ray, Water Cannon and Jackhammer cannot be used,
not to mention the not op ones
Also, don't forget that Dulcimer of Mending, Regeneration Stone, and (if you're a dirty cheater and decide to hack it in) the Lyre of Cakes, while usable, are not going to be particularly effective or reliable. (To make those items 100% reliable, I believe you need to be level 17 and have a high enough Music/Engineering skill; I am pretty sure the requirement is less than 100, but I haven't actually tested this.)
By the way, the Lyre of Cakes does the same thing as the Dulcimer of Mending (of which there are 2), but the Lyre is a lot heavier, so there's no reason to hack it in except for the novelty.
