Hey there. I got a copy of Wiz7 on Steam but I can't get the Gold to work. I'm absolutely willing to pay six bucks to get the improved version of 7 working, but I don't know if it's a problem I'm having with Steam (seems unlikely) or if it's just this terrible laptop and its integrated graphics. Does anyone know by chance if the two versions are identical? If so I'll just...well..play 8. ;)

Thanks.
Wiz Gold is not an improvement; the artstyle is more anime like, the voice acting is cringeworthy and diplomacy doesn't work. The DOS version is the superior one.
Ah. I had thought it was just all new art - I haven't played it since I had it on 3.5" floppy, and the Gold is like 500 megs. Shame that the attached photo is me after playing Wiz7 old version. Stupid ancient graphics.

The Steam version of Wizardry Gold is probably based on GOG's (it even has GOG's screenshots on the store page) so I wouldn't expect any significant differences.

One thing you could try is running WIZARD.EXE directly from the game's installation folder on the off-chance that Steam's way of launching it is affecting things.
