As you may know, in classic Wizardry games, the town is represented by a menu. At the Edge of Town, of course, you have the option to enter the dungeon. The game will only allow you to do this if your party contains at least 1 party member. Makes sense, right?
It turns out that, at least in the Super NES version of Wizardry 5, that the character(s) you take into the dungeon don't have to be alive. In particular, even if everybody in the party is dead, the game will let you enter the dungeon anyway. This means that you can be in the dungeon, in the camp or dungeon exploration screen, with nobody alive in your party.
There is a catch, however; if you take a step, the game will realize that nobody in your party is alive and take you to the cemetery.
Now I just need to see if any other Wizardry games work this way.
This reminds me of Bard's Tale 3, where I found a way to wander around with an empty party.
