I have never beaten the game.
I am returning to an old savefile after many years.

I have a party of 8 on Ascension Peak and I am facing the battle against the Rapax Prince, my illegimate daughter, and their entire army.

I keep getting wiped out, even on Novice difficulty.

Another thing I noticed: I no longer get the tooltips when I hover over the buff icons or the selected spells for each character -- is there a fix?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

What's your party setup? (In particular, classes, levels, main skills.)

The exploit:
Hug along the right wall til the royalties react on the party and turn hostile, note that spot.
Reload and stop right in front of it, hit the combat icon, select to run and proceed along the wall,
when the turn ends your Party is out of distance to trigger them. Ofc you have to repeat if you pass there again.

Return to Ferro or spend more money at Don Barlone to farm a ton of Death Bombs,
2 stacks of 5 in parties throwers inventory should suffice.
Approach again as close as possible w/o triggering combat
start with a bomb and keep throwing them til there are so few left that parties melee and magic is sufficient.
It may help to retreat repeatedly after you hit a good number with a bomb, so they just die while they chase behind the party.


Without looking at your party, for every standard Wiz8 battle like this one:
If they die from magic, have Magic Screen and Element/Soul Shield up at PL7,
cast Missile Shield to counter archers, have Body of Stone(granite potion) on the the front line
and PL7 guardian angel on everybody who still manages to die.
Also, always 5 potions of restaurations on each,
things like smelling salts/cure para powder if encounter dictates and inventory space allows it




btw, if the party is strong enough and AP has not yet been visited with 2 or more artifacts,
repectively Braffitt has not yet spoken about the landslide
(which he does if you talk to him w 2+ Artis and no previous script blocks waiting in line)
you can set a portal right where the royalties spawn, get the artifacts from the chest where you stored them,
and return to abruptly end the rule of the current Rapax dynasty.
