Has anyone else tried getting Wizardry 6 & 7 running on Mac or Linux via Wine? I'm using Wineskin on OS X and I cannot seem to figure out how to launch Wizardry 6. There doesn't seem to be an executable in the Wiz6 folder, and the launcher in the WizGold folder only launches Wiz7.

To run Wizardry 6 requires Dosbox and you can find installation files for Mac and Linux

Once you download Dosbox for your respective system and launch it there are a few commands you would need to know. When it boots up you should be at a Z: prompt. Next thing you would need to do is mount the directory that wizardry 6 resides in.

The command for that in Dosbox is 'mount c: [location of wizardry 6 folder]
once that is done you type c: to move to the c drive and then type wroot.exe to run wizardry 6

edit: I use a custom install of Ubuntu on my google cr-48 and it has dosbox listed in it's software center and have run Wizardry 6 on it with no problem

edit 2: You can also launch the dos version of Wiz 7 this way by substituting the location of Wizardry 7 Dos in the above step 1 instead of Wizardry 6 and run it using ds.exe

edit 3: There are also several frontends listed for Dosbox on the downloads page to make it a little easier getting the game to run if your knowledge of Dos commands and a command line Dosbox is a little rusty

I hate to point this out, but isn't the GOG version of this game supposed to include everything it needs to run the game? I have other GOG games that include DODBox and run just fine in Wine.
It's not an .exe shortcut but have you tried the 'launch wizardry 6' shortcut? located in the wizardry 6 folder

and may I ask why use emulation (wine) ontop of emulation (dosbox) when there are native ports of Dosbox for both Mac and Linux?

Because I didn't already own the game. I have to wonder, though, why they don't just make a "Mac" version in DosBox the way they have with other games.

Wine cannot launch a shortcut. Not to my knowledge, anyway. There must be an executable. I guess I can rip it out and install it into my own native DosBox. Still, it's nice when they release an officially supported version.
