Anarchist_Peasant: How does one ask characters to leave the party?
There is a button on the NPCs portrait on the main game window, (maybe there's one in the character screen too). It has an arrow and a ... uh... cloud? That's the dismiss icon. Created characters don't have that icon.

I leave that big horned thing alone, or go around it. It's yellow on the radar, so it's only hostile when you get within so many feet. You kinda get used to avoiding and running away from stuff to survive.

Your Ranger's chance of insta-kill is going to be low, less than 5% I wager. But hey, it does work sometimes.

And you shouldn't have to encounter spell fizzling that much, unless willingly going for the risk. When choosing the power level, any non-green color means the skill is too low for that spell to cast perfectly, and carries a risk of backfire. Green will never backfire.
What is your profile pic from?

And I don't know if you heard of Legend of Grimrock or not but it looks similar and has great reviews. Much shorter and more puzzle oriented but its getting great reviews. I'll probably play LoG2 sometime after this game. I just mention that because of how long I was saying these Wizardry games are. LoG2 sounds like a 20hour game.

I've played and modded both Legend of Grimrock games. They're really awesome, two of my favorites! But they are spiritual successors to the old Dungeon Master games. They are played entirely in real time, and are more action-rpg.

Anarchist_Peasant: How does one ask characters to leave the party?

I've left Arnika to look for some other settlements. I made my way North to the wilderness and that was pretty damn difficult. I fought that big horned beast with around 450 hp or somehting. He was going to kill me the first time and miraculously my Archer hit some critical arrow for an instant kill. My jaw dropped. I get cheated on my spells backfiring and fizzling so much i didn't think things like that happened. I had 2 deaths on my way to an Umpani base camp tho. I resurrected my Mage and I've left Myles dead. Now that I've completed a training course I was just going to recruit Sparkles or Saxx but don't know how to kick folks out of my party.
you can't kick a dead character... you have to rez myles to get rid of him

hint: leave the Umpani camp and reenter after you rez him

Anarchist_Peasant: And how important are mods? To be honest I hate doing that kind of stuff, but if its important like it was for PS:T and Arcanum I'll do it.

Zadok_Allen: You'll want the fast exe. Combat takes ages once the HP go up and the groups get bigger. That can be sped up with a mod. You don't need it but I'd recommend it anyway. It is a quality of life change, especially later on. The saves are compatible iirc.
Besides that you can play mods to get more and different content but don't need to.
where can i get the fast exe? and do you know if i can change things further, e.g. with the cosmic forge to speed things up, limit the number of enemies i encounter etc.?

thanks!
I just recruited a Droid Monk. I would really appreaciate a melee fighter right now too. But he seems to miss a lot of attacks. I just got off the game and it seemed like he was missing nearly everything. What is up with that?

This game gets pretty tough too. I think I got a bit lost in the Swamps region when I was way too low level and couldn't get out. I had to drop the game on easy to fight my way out.

The android could be missing due to low stamina, which significantly impacts hit chance. They get more attacks, thus wear out quicker. Bless will be of great help, of course. Otherwise, it might be missing as much as it's supposed to. Hit chances are never fantastic. I always found the android useful. Immunity to mind effects is a nice bonus.

You might not have needed, (or been expected), to fight your way out. Sometimes it just drops an atom bomb of impossible on you, so you gotta avoid or run away. Or save before switching maps, to reload if it just gets TOO swamped.

you may just have to much junk and its slowing you down
That might have been it. I can't tell yet because I just did it, but I just sold a lot of left over weapons and armor. And I was wondering the whole time actually if I would become overencumered or something.

I just bought Wiz6&7 for 2$. I loaded up Wiz 6 and looked at the char screen. I wanted to get to the gameplay but there is no chance of me playing it for even a few hours i think. Pretty old school.

So I'm looking for the coordinates of a ship for the T'rang. I don't know where to go. I looked online a little. I need to do Umpani quests in order to get to the Bayjin Shallows which will then take me to Bayjin?

You don't need to be on any quest to reach Bayjin. Just head to the northwest corner of the swamp and you will find the entrance to Bayjin around there. From there you can reach the Bayjin Shallows.

The only areas that require completing quests just to access are some of the Umpani areas; Bayjin isn't one of them (though an Umpani quest might take you there).

Out of curiosity, how was one supposed to figure that out? Should I have asked more questions? I think Z'ant actually wanted me to locate two of them. I'm not sure if one of the spacecrafts downed was mine own though. Anywyas I went back to him just as I was departing the Bluff and when I went back he basically accused me of being an Umpani spy and attacked me. When I looked online about the Bayjin stuff I think it mentioned I didn't pay back someone in Arnika. (I think it was He'li the bartender who I did pay on behalf of Miles I thought but I could have reloaded without redoing that or something)

I believe the game just expects you to explore, find Bayjin, and promptly get murdered by the psionic attacks of the residents there. (Or, of course, actually find the downed spacecrafts there.) I don't think your own spacecraft would be found there; assuming you didn't import a Wizardry 7 save, the spacecraft should be in the Lower Monastery near the starting point (though not much of it can be found there). There's also a downed spacecraft in Arnika (where you probably found the Damaged Black Box; the item you need is similar, and it is to be used at one spot in Arnika's spaceport).

If Z'ant is accusing you of being a spy and turns hostile, there is a way to prevent that and still do the T'Rang quests. Instead of initiating conversation with her normally, take a quest item (one the game doesn't let you drop, such as the Chaos Moliri or the fake Astral Dominae) from your inventory and click on her with it; she will say you should keep it instead of turning hostile. You will need to do this every time you talk to her. She has been known to turn hostile even if you pay He'Li off.
