I played Wizardry 7 back in the day and I don't recall being able to resurrect characters. Is that true or am I remembering wrong? Also is the same true for Wizardry 6?
Yep, there are potions, items and spells for this, in Wiz 6, 7 and 8.
In Wizardry 8...

Resurrection Powder: This consumable is available here and there as treasure and is occasionally sold by magic vendors. You can find a couple of doses of it in the Monastery's first level if you look around.

Resurrection Scroll: Less common than the powder, but still found here and there as treasure.

Magic Item: There is at least one type of miscellaneous item (an ankh) that can cast a resurrection spell as a power. It may show up in a shop later on.

Resurrection Spell: The Divinity and Alchemy spellbooks have this at spell level 6.
Awesome, thanks.
One of the easiest and best ways to resurrect characters is with the Amulet of Life. Generally it's found very early, and it can be used multiple times.

In 6, it's in one of the entrance chests and has 7 charges. You can find others elsewhere, but that one item could easily last you the whole game. (Personally I generally reload when a character dies, unless it's a crazy boss fight and I can manage to rez them before the fight is over.)

In 7, it's at the end of the beginner's dungeon, in the Ra-sep-re-tep's chest. It has 5 charges, but can be charged repeatedly (up to a max of 99) via the Recharge spell.

In 8, it's fairly random. You may find several in the various Arnika chests, or you may find none. Crock also has a chance to sell one. Really though, you're better off importing one. You can actually bring a whole bunch of them with you, but one is all you need. It has a random number of charges (up to 4) and can be recharged by selling it to a merchant and then buying it back.
You can find some resurrection powders in Monestery. 2 or 3 of them are placed next to your start position at waterfall, but you will have to find the way to get up there :P (Wizardry 8)

Additionally, you got those in the safe in lower Monastery. Just need to find the Key first (and solve the little riddle). Both have a range of 1-3 Powders, so if you're lucky you got yourself 6 Ressurection Powders, if you're unlucky only 2

There's also some hidden Resurrection Powder on a waterfall just above the beach where you start the game. To reach it, jump into the water below the mechanical bridge and follow it all the way to the exit from the cave (fight a small school of fish too), and stop just before the steep drop.
In Wizardy 6 you should note that at least a Vitality of 1 is important to be able to be ressurrected.
I can't get my Amulet of Life to work; I invoke it, and it uses a charge, but the party members who are dead can't be targeted - their spots are just blank when the list of portraits comes up for targeting the spell. What am I doing wrong?
To me it was unituitive, but in Wiz 7 (and probably Wiz 6 as well) you can actually Resurrect dead party members while in combat. I learnt it when trying to defeat the Beast of a 1000 Eyes. Armed with this new knowledge I finally beat the bugger.

Hi VoidAngel,

You probably have moved on by now but in wizardry 8 (assumed) there are two reasons I can think of that would cause what you described;
1. Low artefact skill (possibly due to a curse) can cause the spell to fissile and this would still use a charge.
2. No Magic allowed in this area… there are a couple of places in wiz8 which don't allow magic to be cast and as one of them is in the starting monastery I suspect this is the most likely cause of your issue.
I have gone on to 8 now (if I can get character selection to work - I have a help thread up,) but thanks for the reply. I didn't see a fizzle message, but even with high delay settings my computer can blast stuff by pretty fast. That could be what it was.
