I have a human that I am trying to make Samurai at creation.

Humans start with 46 attribute points.
Samurai need a total of 60 attribute points.
Should need a roll of 14 or better to create.

I rolled a 20.
No matter what I do I can not make a Samurai.

What am I missing?

Thank you.

You actually need 23 points for a human to be a samurai.

7 Str
3 Int
5 Pie
6 Vit
2 Agi

Total 23. Which is possible, since the max you can get is 29.
If you want easy samurai in the future, Dwarves Elves and Gnomes all only require 18 points from base to reach the minimums; halfling is the worst at 25 points.

(Lords and Ninja are still out at chargen this version, though, as the smallest of both is 34 and 53 points; humorously, those are both Gnomes)

Actually. Hobbits are a better choice. Due to their high Luck, they have a stat sum that is higher than that of any other race. The reason they're not good for Samurai is that Samurai has no luck requirement, but Lord and Ninja both require at least 15, making the stat useful from that standpoint.

... You're right. I had a typo in my little quick-reference spreadsheets I made when I was poking NES and SNES versions a bunch, where I had marked Hobbit/Halfling as having 12 base luck, not 15... making them 1 point better than gnome (assuming I didn't mess *that* up) for Lord and Ninja overall.
