Under help it shows movement as the up/down keys, which is how I play but ingame It is wasd, how to change?

I'm guessing that you have to manually rebind from the setup menu like I had to do for Witchaven 2. Go to:

C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\

and look for Witchaven 1.

There should something like a setup or configuration option there.
