I reloaded this game after a long period since I tried last (first deleting any trace of it and Yuplay first from the hard drive and had Steam install it fresh. It looks as if they fixed it so at least the single player part works now.

I really don't want to play the Pay to Win War Thunder so I was happy the addressed the issues and release a new patch. After all they are still selling the game.
