So I see there are quite a number of the Wing Commander games here on GOG.

1-4, Privateer. But why is Prophecy not among them? Is it 'too recent' to count? Does EA/Origin have a beef with selling it via GOG? I still have the original (non-Gold) CD set and most of the documentation that came with it :) So if there is any help to be had, I can probably help with it!

Thanks for any responses regarding this one!

Wing IV was just recently released and GOG is pacing themselves with EA releases. I imagine we will see it eventually (I personally will buy it when it becomes available) but with all of the other stuff going on at GOG right now we will just need to be patient. WCP, if memory serves, also required a specific kind of 3D card back in the day (3dfx?) - so GOG will have to program for that so modern machines can emulate or work around this requirement.

There is truth in your statement and speculation.

And there is the nGlide wrapper, for 3dfx effects, though I wonder if they might enlist the help of the developers of the wrapper for the (possible) release?

I mean, the first time I played through WCP was on an nVidia....Vanta? Something along those lines, with 8MB VRAM. Though I didn't know there were super-awesome effects and AA and all at the time with a 3dfx card. Makes me sad thinking back on it.

I do speculate that WCP will be released on GOG (I do NOT know for sure) - but based on their current standard of 'completion' for the games/series they have released I'd be surprised if it didn't show up eventually.

Regarding the 3Dfx thing, I honestly don't remember specifics - but if there is a will to release it for modern day machines there is a way to make it work.
I hope they do, I also hope they release the DVD (high res movies upgrade) version like they did for WC IV.
So glad, brings me back to my childhood playing through WC I again after the weekend sale(bought the full weekend pack), still have all my old disks but couldn't refuse the easy setup and running of gog.com
Thank you soooo much :)
Check out some of the links at WC CIC http://www.wcnews.com/ for info on work that has taken place on getting WCP to have OpenGL support and DVD movie support.

Back in the day it was released, it supported Glide as its best renderer (which was specific to 3dfx cards, such as the Voodoo, Voodoo II). There was a DirectX renderer, but it wasn't all that good compared to Glide.

I should say that I have been fortunate enough to have played it with the OpenGL patch. It's fantastic!
