Hi guys,

There is a OpenGL upgrade patch for Prophecy. This enhances the graphics in the game, what only could be seen using the now defunct 3dfx range of graphics cards. It is well worth downloading and doing another playthrough if you have already completed the game.

You can get the patch here from WCews.com WIKI.

Big thanks go to PopsiclePete, for making this possible. And a special thanks to WCNews.com for reminding us of this wonder.

Hey,
I'm really irritated that nobody answered to this thread before. That's exactly the way WC5 has to be played! I've wondered why the GOG-version lookes so ugly (terrible banding) compared to my experiences with the game back on my 3dfx-accelerated computer. Now it looks wonderful.
Thank you very much for the hint! :)
Feels like GOG was kinda lazy with this game, no OpenGL-Support, no DVD-Upgrade included, pretty lame.
I cant get the patch to work.
I am not good with computers but I believe I have done all the steps correctly.
I get this warning once I put in the resolution. I am trying 1920x1080 on direct 3d.

Thanks for your help.

I know this is massively old; but for anyone else: It appears viperpete was installing the WCP Hi-Res patch, not the OpenGL patch. That one still used DirectX

Now you can use the model upgrade patch (which includes the OGL patch and new hi-res models/textures):

Some issues have been reported on ATI cards however
