How about today?? :))
No DVD movies? No new Opengl renderer? At least according to screenshots...

Can anyone confirm this?
Won't glide emulators work with it?

This game was never officially released with a DVD version. Although one was being worked on. You can get the files to turn it into a DVD version (from the unreleased DVD) off of Wing Commander CIC website I think though?

Wasn't DVD quality unofficial here? If the game supported Glide back in the day, I'd assume GOG bundled it with nGlide.

I can confirm it uses the standard interlaced video and Glide support via nGlide only. That said, it still looks great and works flawlessly for me on W7x64. And there indeed never was an official DVD or other hi-res video version of Prophecy released. Might be able to patch in the movies available on WC CIC though?

By the way, what are we missing out on without OpenGL support?
As I understand it the DVD/Hires edition was never 'released'. Only a prototype was made, but never officially released. Wing Commander CIC was able to get ahold of that prototype, and used it make their patch.

"Windows 95 DVD

Never mass produced or sold. Created for bundling with a Creative Labs Encore DVD kit, but never materialized."

Another question is does this version come with Secret Ops?

Baggins: Another question is does this version come with Secret Ops?
It does, it's accessible via a separate shortcut.
I just picked this up, have never played this WC game so this is a real treat for me. I no longer have a joy stick though so I may need to find one somewhere hopefully it is not to expensive.
This is great. i have the CD version but now it's come to GOG :)
This game owns.

I actually completed Secret Ops years ago, I got it free on a magazine cover disc (well technically it wasn't free, the mag cost me £5.99)
Didn't know GOG had Prophecy until I saw the Wing Commander Series sale today.. It's interesting how much one loathes putting in CDs and even switching them in this day and age..

I can confirm that it's still using a Glide Wrapper and is not using the OpenGL patch available from CIC (and neither does it deliver the DVD movies, but those haven't ever been officially released anyway).

You can apply the OpenGL patch though and the game seems to work without problems so far.

For those not in the know:

The OpenGL patch is much more advanced than the Glide Wrapper (the wrapper presents the game "the way it was" using the Glide graphics API) as it patches/changes texture information, replaces some textures, allows for Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering and upscales all 2D elements smoothly (the Glide wrapper's scaling is quite crude).

It might have been nice of GOG to have that patch pre-applied but I can imagine that the legal situation doesn't allow it (the patch's authors retain rights for the changes they made, e.g. new textures, while infringing on other rights, e.g. "patching" the libraries and executables).
I still have all the original discs in one of those ugly multi-stack CD cases. Me and my brother loved this game. My favorite part is where you flew that Tigershark alone and resupplied by yourself at that remote station, the good old Tigershark was my personal favorite in that game. Don't care what others say, don't care about stats. Loved how easy it was to fly, had multi-purpose loadout , and it looked cool to me.
