gamesfreak64: i saw a patch for setup_wing_commander3_2.0.0.5.
i have this game because i bought it during a mutator promo and used it to complete the 3 mutators
thats why its in my collection
i have these files:
setup_wing_commander3_2.0.0.5.exe
setup_wing_commander3_2.0.0.5-2.bin
setup_wing_commander3_2.0.0.5-1.bin
setup_wing_commander3_2.0.0.5-2.bin
very large files
the file downloaded is also very large... do i need to keep the old big bigfiles, that is , that they should be always installed first before applying any updates/patches? or can i get rid of them?
RectifiedGTRz: I bought Wing Commander 3 - Heart of the Tiger, and this is how it was installed. It was version 2.0.0.5 and came in multiple files. The "update" I received yesterday is 2.1.0.7 and was only in 1 large file (1.6 GB). So I installed it and it went into a new directory, just says Wing Commander 3. I played both, I don't know what the difference is. i have this game because i bought it during a mutator promo and used it to complete the 3 mutators

i always thought that a patch meant it would fix and /or add things to an existing installation of a game.
So thats why i thought you have to install 2.0.0.5 and then after the installation has completed, setup the patch 2.1.0.7
I dont hope its meant to be installed separately , cause that would cause double space usage for the same game.
If however it is the complete game with patch in it, then i think deleting the old installed version 2.0.0.5 would be best , this will free up some space on the hd.
