Is this worth the $8 I paid for it? I don't know much about it, only that it uses WC3's engine and supposedly requires strategy.

That's not a bad deal. Don't know how much GOG will sell it for when they get around to it.

Ya, it has a 'strategy' type game included, that has you conquering sectors and move capital ship from place to place conquer regions (build ships and supplies on planets). While competing with an AI trying to do the same thing. But at times you go into regular wing commander combat to defend your ships and conquered planets. At least how I understand it. It also has a quick mission mode that's more or less like the gauntlet in WC Academy.

There is also a multiplayer element. Although that would be hard to use!

In addition there is one downloadable add-on for the game.

I bought it when it came out. Found the strategy part boring, but I do remember bringing my PC over to a friends house (What a pain!) and using a parallel cable to connect our PCs to play head to head. THAT was awesome.
