I'm currently playing through WC3 (first time playing a Wing Commander game - I'm in love with it!) but I'm getting ready to finish it and move to WC4. I'm curious about how people have their controls set up with the DVD version of the game since you can't use DOSBox's keymapper since the DVD version doesn't run in DOSBox.

For WC3 I'm using a Xbox Series X controller and set it up using this guide (but with antimicro). Luckily, the GOG release of WC4 also has the DOS version so I can set up the controls in a similar way but I would really like to enjoy the higher quality FMV sequences in the DVD version.

Anyone using an Xbox controller with WC4 successfully that can shed some light for a series newcomer? Any help would be much, much appreciated!

WC4 only supports DirectInput joysticks IIRC. You can emulate one using Joystick Gremlin by mapping your controller to a vJoy virtual peripheral (note: I advice to map just two buttons and any supported axes, can't remember if WC4 supports 3 or 4, also make sure vJoy has the priority in windows).

Ah, bugger. Thanks for the info. I'll just stick to the DOS version then.
