Wing Commander will not launch. At first DosBox didn't even show on screen but it was showing up in my task manager which I had to open to shut down multiple copies of the program that were running unseen from my attempts to get the game running. After uninstalling and re-installing I managed to get DosBox to open but it only showed a black screen and then soon crashed "DosBox is not responding" error. I've tried running as an administrator and changing it to OpenGL and neither option is working. I've also installed all the old Direct X drivers and done all the tweeks to user settings suggested and nothing is working.

This game ran fine on Windows 7 and I am wondering if this is an issue with Windows 10 and if there is a way to fix the issue without reverting back to windows 7. Really I liked Windows 7 better and wouldn't mind switching back were it not that I'm concerned about future support both in updates and compatibility for future game releases. And really this game needs to work on Windows 10 and I'm not even sure if that's the issue or not. Is anyone else having problems getting Wing Commander 1 to even start?

I fixed it myself I had to install DosBox separate from WC1. Just googled DosBox Windows 10 and installed the version of DosBox that search led me to.
