i loved the game in my childhood,
but now i hate it.

whats so different this time ?

i cannot beat one single mission anymore, cannot remember that i had this problem back in the days

its allways the same: u start the mission, your wingman gets killed instantly because this idiot is directing straight into 4 firing kilrathis,
then u are alone and get killed after 3 hits.
unplayable...unbeatable

damnit

It's because it's a terrible game but there wasn't anything better back then.
And the gog+dosbox version of the game is the worst version available.

Imho Chris Roberts didn't get good with space games until Starlancer and Freelancer. It's similar with Mechwarrior, people shill for MW 1&2 even though they are terrible and the franchise didn't get good
until MW3.

I'd recommend just getting Freelancer and installing the HD Mod.

I found out what was my problem.

the success in the first couple missions is essential for the difficulty in the following mission
when u screw up too much, the cominng missions getting harder also u have to fly a crapier ship.

i think its quiet innovative back in the days to make a variable difficulty depending on how u succeed in the game

so never screw a mission just to develop further in the game story !

I think you had to grow up with WC1. Back when it came out it was revolutionary. But now in Dosbox, the speed never quite feels right.

To the other guy who said MW1 and 2 sucked, MW1 sucked but 2 (not the expansions) is still pretty fun to play but 4 was where the series really became great!
I feel the game is even better than I remembered it.
I absolutely disagree with some comments posted here.

The dialog is nice, the music is good, some things are so original and fun (like the fact that we save to a dormitory, that's original), and the combat has very interesting dynamics, from being congratulated when the ship is alright, to having even your comms radio half destroyed making it difficult to land back to your carrier.

you need to change the dosbox settings, that's all, and adjust sensitivity.
you can place these lines at the end of the dosbox file ; the changes come from someone who reviewed the game, I only added the sensitivity line.
