This is a problem I've only been having since picking up a new PC. It's Win7 x64 like the old one, so it shouldn't be that. During the FMV sequences, every two to three seconds there'll be a 1/10-second (or so) "hitch" where the video and audio stop, then resume. It's really irritating. Anyone else had this problem and have a fix for it?

Set the mixer prebuffer setting in dosboxWC3.conf to something very large, like 1000.
I also have this problem, also on other games with fmvs like Stonekeep. And sometimes on non-gog games non fmvs like Spellcross i run through dosbox. And i have windows XP.

EDIT: The prebuffer is 10000 by default. Setting it to 20000 doesn't change a thing. Setting the blocksize higher though makes stuttering bareable, but the sound starts to lag about 1 sec. I can take it during fmvs, but not during gameplay, where miliseconds are important.

And btw the video itself also stutters a bit along the sound, is not fluid.

WC3 is finicky, but you can reduce stuttering. Check out the GOGWiki entry for solutions.

Tried the recommended settings in the link... still crackles and pops as hell.

Maybe i need better hardware or sth to properly emulate?

I looked in the topic: http://www.gog.com/en/forum/wing_commander_series/wc3_choppy_video/page1

and tried setting core from "auto" to "normal". THis worked. There's also another solution there: to set the cycles to fixed number from "max", but i haven't tried this, as the core setting seems to increase overall video / audio performance in my case a thousandfold and everything is playable finally!

Thanks all; time to learn how to edit DOSbox files without giving myself a fit. :)
