How to improve the performance of the game? The game slows down when shields light up when hit close to my ship and also during takeoff (down to almost 1 fps). Is there a workaround or is it becouse my hardware doesn't handle emulation? (i have pretty old pc: geforce 5200 fx, athlon 1,8 ghz)

EDIT: i checked out all video modes, and none of it helps.

EDIT2: It looks like the fmvs are unwatchable with dynamic core, but gameplay is unplayable with normal core (it's good with dynamic). Damn, can't i have both fmvs and gameplay? What should i do now?

EDIT3: ok, if I set a dynamic core but fixed cycles, then the fmvs are watchable at around 25000 cycles, but the gameplay needs much more. Maybe if i can find two appropriate settings i can switch the cycles needed on the run manually

EDIT4: ok, it kinda does the trick, although it isn't perfect solution by any means. cycles=fixed 25000, cycles up and down = 50000. The stuttering is not only fmv issue, the sound seems to crackle also during gameplay, for exanple when I use the autopilot, so I have to constantly adjust the cycles according to whether the sound is ok. For example during the training mission i have to have 25000, or it will stutter, but when there are more ships on the screen I need more cycles so i'm constantly hitting ctrl+F12 and ctrl+F11 during playing. More challenge (lol)?

EDIT5: Man, Wing Commander is AWESOME!
